The Small Things

Two things that never fail to bring a smile to my face in recent weeks are this gold bracelet and new Bobbi Brown lipstick in Guava. On a trip to London I took a minor detour to the John Lewis beauty counter, with the intentions of treating myself to something a little bit special and different to my normal style. Numerous friends had started to rave none stop about Bobbi Brown products in the weeks leading up to my trip, so it seemed like the obvious place to start. As I never normally wear lipstick (I've always been a lip balm lady) I decided to invest in something bright and fresh, that wouldn't fail to make me feel that extra bit special and glammed up from the moment I applied it. Guava does just that.
This gold bracelet was an love at first sight item. I love the fact that it looks like an item you would find at a little Spanish market, and has that summer, holiday vibe to it. Yet, at the same time there is something quite subtle and elegant about it - most likely because it is a thin rather than chunky chain. It does often get mistaken by friends and family as a watch, but hey, that's all part of the charm.

Trend: Aztec Jewellery

I'm falling head over heels for Topshop's new Aztec inspired jewellery collection. It's all about bold colours - burnt orange, turquoise, blood red and emerald green mixed with gold. Think big shapes like statement rings and long rope necklaces with pendant stones hanging near your navel. Stones are roughly cut to create a 'just pulled from the earth of the desert' vibe, and everything is chunky and textured. Wear with maxi dresses come Summer, or a fur Gilet and jeans for Spring style.

The Advent Calendar

For the girl who has everything...

This beautiful statement bracelet from Oliver Bonas is a real conversation piece for fashion lovers everywhere.

Showcasing the ultimate Christmas colours - black and gold, at £22 this bracelet is a bit of a bargain, and I'm adding it to my wish list right away.

The huge agate stone and strips of small, square stone beading is both eye-catching and original, while capturing a feel of glamorous past eras. A fantastic piece.

Two are better than one

Started on the Chanel A/W 2010 catwalks, a penchant for doubling up on jewellery has spread like quick-fire. No matter what trend you're sporting, accessories speak volumes, and in the season of all things glittering and sparkling now is the time to add a pinch of maximalism to your look. Double up the dose of bracelets - one on each wrist (but always matching). The one rule: bracelets have to be big. Opt for sophisticated and gem like, a la Emily Blunt, to create the perfect glamorous look for a Christmas party. Alternatively, make like the Missoni catwalk and mix chrome cuffs with blanket knits, ribbed leggings and capes to create the perfect daytime layered look.
