The Lust List

I've been musing over this necklace for a month or so now, and could never quite make up my mind. I love the mix of gold and silver, the chunky bold statement style and the ring detail just before the silver turns to cord.

However, I wasn't quite sure what I'd wear the necklace with or if the cord was strong enough to hold the wait of such a clumpy necklace. On further inspection it turns out the item is quite light; and following a recent event in Hackney where I saw the necklace styled in two different ways - over the top of a rock-themed tshirt, paired with black skinnies, and also with a simple one colour shift dress and gold watch (both worked beautifully) - this necklace has most definitely made its way onto The Lust List.

A girl can never have too many bags... and I've found the perfect addition to my ever-growing collection!

The drawstring and duffle bag shape are spot on trend for day wear at the moment, and the neutral shade makes this bag so easy to match with numerous outfits. It's a beautifully soft leather and a great size for make-up, books, etc. Whats more, I'm a sucker for anything gold or studded, so the detailing on the strap of this bag is an added bonus in my eyes.

A New Leading Lady

I just had to post this picture of Amanda Seyfried at the premiere for her new film, Red Riding Hood. Miss Seyfried is spot on in the fashion stakes in this plum coloured Lavin dress.

I love the t-shirt style shape of the dress which adds a grungy, youthful feel to an otherwise sleek mini.

Accessorised with a fabulous statement necklace by Tom Binns, a messy up-do, dark nails and natural make-up. I'm not 100% sold on the shoes though. Usually, I can't get enough of items in nude. But for some reason, this pair leaves me a bit cold. I would have preferred something brighter and without the ankle strap - to me these look like ballet pumps with heels, and it just doesn't work.

Ever since Mama Mia and Dear John I've been a fan of this leading lady, and am looking forward to watching this fairytale flick when it hits cinemas from 15th April.

The Oscars 2011: Best Dressed

So the big night's all over and we all know who won the awards, but who gets a prize for best dressed...

First up is Best Actress winner, Natalie Portman, who wowed in a deep plum Rodarte gown. The soft fabric flowed beautifully over Natalie's baby bump to the floor, showing just a peep of her purple satin Jimmy Choos. The embellished low neckline and Tiffany tassel earrings added a bit of glamour to the beautifully low-key ensemble.

This wasn't love at first sight for me, but after closer inspection I can confirm Mila Kunis' place in the Best Dressed list. This pretty, lavender lace gown is a unique choice - feminine and a little bit sexy. Mila's simple up do sets the look off nicely.

It was good to see Sandra Bullock making a head start on this Spring's bright colours trend. Donning a structured, strapless Vera Wang, with matching coral lipstick, Sandra ensured all eyes were on her.

Amy Adams was stunning in this figure hugging, Sapphire blue L'Wren Scott gown. Encrusted with jewels and with a thigh high split, this dress shone on the red carpet. Amy gets extra points for daring accessorising - opting for a clashing turquoise stoned necklace and bracelet.

It's worth noting a few key trends that showcased at the awards last night. The return of the lady in red was one that couldn't be missed. Follow Zoe Saldana's lead and clash your red with a bright pink shoe or make yours evening appropriate by sticking to a dark crimson and some serious sequins a la Penelope Cruz.

Purple was another popular choice, and a personal favourite of mine for Spring. Scarlett Johansson worked the trend to the max in a seductive lace, backless Dolce and Gabana.

The Lust List...

If this beauty is anything to go by, it looks like Spring/Summer 11 is going to be a great season for River Island.

This yellow skirt will breathe new life into any tired Winter wardrobe.

The loose fit and retro pattern create a vintage vibe and the use of dark brown in the skirt makes it the perfect transitional piece.

It's the little details that ensure River Island is at the top of it's game - so often a cute little belt is included in the price of a dress or skirt. On this occasion I adore the included belt, and it makes styling this skirt a doddle.

A Rainbow Shower

Longing to hear those three magic words? Well, here goes... a la Gucci. There I said it. This season there is no escaping the trends tumbling off the Gucci catwalk. And, one of the best, is the end of the reign of nude and barely-there colours (fun though they were) and the new rule of bold, super- brights.

There is only one rule: there are no rules. For the fashion forward wear contrasting, deep colours and even flash a panel of black for maximum impact.

For those a little more conservative at heart, the high street is already full of gorgeous bright accessories. Try a pink suede clutch from Topshop, a patent green skinny belt from ASOS or a bright stoned cuff from bagsofparkle.com.

At the moment I am completely in love with big statement rings. My only rule is that they have to be classy and tasteful though.

Opt for gold and it will instantly update any outfit with a bit of Christmas bling. This subtle one is available in a range of colours, and is the perfect accessory for the office, pub or even the dance floor. Buy immediately!

Two are better than one

Started on the Chanel A/W 2010 catwalks, a penchant for doubling up on jewellery has spread like quick-fire. No matter what trend you're sporting, accessories speak volumes, and in the season of all things glittering and sparkling now is the time to add a pinch of maximalism to your look. Double up the dose of bracelets - one on each wrist (but always matching). The one rule: bracelets have to be big. Opt for sophisticated and gem like, a la Emily Blunt, to create the perfect glamorous look for a Christmas party. Alternatively, make like the Missoni catwalk and mix chrome cuffs with blanket knits, ribbed leggings and capes to create the perfect daytime layered look.

Everybody's wearing... Knee high socks

Over dinner last week a friend gushed about her latest purchase - I was expecting something extravagant, a fierce pair of peep toe boots or a luscious cable-knit jumper, instead I was presented with a pair of knee high socks.

Usually a humble and hidden accessory, socks are coming into their own this season. Dare to bare your legs, teaming yours with a jumper dress, leather bomber and shoeboots; for those a little less brave, wear socks over tights or leggings and a loose fitting floaty mini.

Style Crush: Diane Kruger

Diane Kruger just doesn't get it wrong. She is undoubtedly the Queen of the red carpet, showcasing quietly sophisticated gowns, often with a modern and quirky twist.

As with every woman there are looks she goes back to time and again - vintage inspired items, monochrome palettes and blush coloured ball gowns. But there is never any sense that we're seeing something we've been shown before; there is always something new and intriguing about each garment. This is the beauty of Diane's style - original, understated and utterly cool.

The key to her fashion success is intelligent accessorising. Diane keeps things simple - a thin belt or one statement bracelet paired with a chic box clutch is all she needs.

She deserves extra style points for her fearless use of colour - fuschia pink, mustard yellow, bright red and royal blue are amongst her recent style quests.

A favourite with designers Karl Lagerfeld and Roberto Cavalli, she is often spotted on the front row at Fashion week. Diane has no quandary when it comes to testing out the new season's biggest trends - the androgynous look, bodycon, one-shouldered dresses, boho, grunge, tailoring, prints, ruffles and pastels are just a few of the latest trends she has sported.

Yet with Ms Kruger there is no attention grabbing behaviour; the clothes are allowed to speak for themselves. And speak volumes they do. She has a natural flair for fashion; an ability to wear any trend, make it her own, and always looks incredible. Even the more outrageous designer gowns are worn with effortless ease. This is surely the making of a style icon.

Even Diane's make-up and hair is flawless. Smoky eyes and natural lips are her signature look for showbiz events, and her blond locks are often swept back into a loose but beautiful up-do - truly the work of a pro.

And she can pull off the perfect daytime look too. A real girl's girl, in summer Diane opts for a cute dress, and simple grey cardi, again with minimum accessories. And for winter, she hottens things up by teaming over-the-knee boots with a short checked dress.
